COVID-19 / Novel Coronavirus Protocol
For more than 40 years, the Viking Motel has been synonymous with clean, comfortable and affordable accommodation when your travels take you through Southern Vermont. We appreciate the many thousands of guests that have stayed with us through the years. During these difficult and unprecedented times, we remain a welcoming place of rest, and our priority continues to be the health and safety of our guests and staff.
We’re incredibly fond of our guests, from front-line workers to those who continue to provide essential services like construction workers, those taking advantage of all the unique fun to be had in our area to those needing a place to stay because their home is being renovated.
We continue to welcome guests where it is still permissible under the latest state and local mandates, and where we are able to operate safely and have the staff available to do so. Where we are unable to continue operations, or are restricted to essential workers only due to local mandates, we will try our best to relocate guests and provide information about local resources available to them.
As the impact of COVID-19 evolves, we continue to follow the guidelines of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization, as well as federal, state and local authorities.
We are so grateful to you, our guests, and our staff, as we all navigate the challenging circumstances the world is facing in the weeks and months ahead. That said, we know that we will endure and come out stronger for the future. We hope to see you soon and invite you to come and stay with us wherever the road may take you.
Ongoing Community Support
Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, we have participated in discussions with state and local governments in an effort to offer our ongoing assistance and support to the community in which we operate. We know there is a need for additional shelter to house our most vulnerable populations, our first responders, medical professionals, other essential workers, and those who may need to need to quarantine at this time. We continue to work with various municipalities to offer our help during this public health crisis.
Protecting Our Guests and Staff
Protective Gear: We use our best efforts to provide our team members with personal protective equipment where we are able to secure these supplies. We have installed a Plexiglas barrier at the front desk to assist with maintaining physical distance between our guests and staff. As we learn more about this virus, we will continue to make additional adjustments operationally, based on the latest guidelines and recommendations of the CDC and occupational health specialists.
Enhanced Cleaning Protocols: We have updated best practices for protection against infectious disease and have increased cleaning frequency for common areas and hard, non-porous surfaces throughout our motel.
Social Distancing: We ask guests to respect CDC recommended social distancing guidelines to include mask wearing and maintaining a six feet distance when checking into our motel and moving throughout our common areas.
Certificate of Compliance
The State of Vermont has suspended its leisure travel map and implemented a mandatory quarantine for anyone returning or traveling to Vermont.
As part of the State of Vermont guidance to lodging, campgrounds, and other accommodations, our guests are required to sign a Certificate of Compliance at the time of check-in attesting that you meet the quarantine requirement, have traveled from a county with similar active COVID-19 caseload per the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development (ACCD), and/or are an essential/authorized worker. The Certificate of Compliance form found here meets this criteria (click on the image below to review; no need to print, we'll have a copy for you to sign):
